Montgomery, AL – County Republican Party chairmen from across the 2nd Congressional District in south and central Alabama have asked Democratic candidate Bobby Bright to return campaign contributions he received from liberal groups.
The Republicans say Bright is claiming to be a conservative in ads and in speeches on the campaign trail. But the letter says Bright has received money from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other groups the chairmen described as liberal.
Bright is the mayor of Montgomery. He faces Republican state Rep. Jay Love in the Nov. 4 general election for the 2nd District seat.
Bright says his receiving financial support from certain groups does not mean he will adopt their political agendas in Congress.
