Montgomery, AL – Alabama's two Supreme Court candidates have filed campaign reports showing they spent a total of more than $4 million on their race last year.
Republican winner Greg Shaw reported spending nearly $1.8 million. Democrat Deborah Bell Paseur listed nearly $2.5 million in expenses.
A national organization that tracks campaign spending in court races, the Justice at Stake Campaign, says their race was the most expensive in the country for spending by candidates. But it was not the most expensive in overall spending. That title belongs to Wisconsin, where spending by outside groups pushed the total cost to $6 million.
