Montgomery, AL – Jurors have ordered prescription drug manufacturer Sandoz to pay the state of Alabama $78.4 million for causing the state Medicaid program to pay too much for prescription drugs.
Jurors returned the verdict Tuesday morning after deliberating for about four hours over two days.
The jury of eight men and four women ordered the German-based Sandoz, a subsidiary of Novartis, to pay $28.4 million to compensate the Medicaid program for its losses and another $50 million in punitive damages to punish the company.
