Montgomery, AL – Alabama's state comptroller, Bob Childree, is retiring after 35 years of state service.
Childree served as a governmental account prior to become the state's top merit system accountant in 1987. Thursday was his last day.
State Finance Director Jim Main says Alabama is losing one of its most dedicated public servants.
During Childree's tenure, the comptroller's office inplemented a fully integrated computerized financial system that processes state procurement, payroll and personnel functions.
