Montgomery, AL – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has reversed an earlier decision and approved Alabama's request of individual assistance for residents of Autauga, Montgomery and Elmore counties affected by recent flooding.
FEMA had earlier turned down the state's application for help for victims of flooding from severe storms that hit the area May 6-8.
Gov. Bob Riley filed an official appeal with FEMA earlier Friday and late in the afternoon received word the three counties would receive federal assistance.
Riley advises residents affected by the flooding to register immediately with FEMA online or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
