Alabama's Newest Town Gets Mayor, Council

By Associated Press

Perdido Beach, AL – Officials say the new town of Perdido Beach is set to get its first mayor and council this week after an October election was canceled because each race drew only one unchallenged candidate.

A municipal election was set for Oct. 6 after the town's incorporation was approved in April. But Baldwin County Probate Judge Adrian Johns said there was only one candidate in each race when the qualifying period ended July 31.

County officials say the town's leadership positions will be filled by: Patsy Parker as mayor; and Patti Larsen, Dennis Kaiser, William Kelley, Ronnie Resmondo and Al Thompson on the Town Council.

Reports indicate the 2-square-mile town has a full-time population of about 560 people.
