Huntsville, AL – The acting director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville is getting the job on a permanent basis.
Alabama native Robert M. Lightfoot Jr. was named director of the center on Monday. He had been the acting director since March, and previously was a deputy director at Marshall.
Lightfoot is a native of Montevallo and a graduate of the University of Alabama.
Marshall is currently designing the nation's next generation of moon rockets, but the project is being reviewed by an Obama administration panel that's considering the future of human spaceflight.
