Anti-Gambling Ala. Gov. Won't Collect On Bet

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's anti-gambling governor isn't going to collect those oranges he won from Florida's governor in their wager on the Southeastern Conference football championship.

Gov. Bob Riley became the target of criticism on Internet blogs and talk radio for wagering Alabama barbecue against Florida oranges over the outcome of the SEC championship.

Alabama won the game Saturday, but Riley's press secretary says Riley doesn't plan to collect - which was news to Gov. Charlie Crist's office. A spokesman for Crist said the two governors had the same wager last year and Riley sent Dreamland Barbecue from Tuscaloosa when Florida won.
