FAA Begins Investigation Into North Ala. Plane Crash

By Associated Press

Madison, AL – Federal crash investigators are arriving in north Alabama to determine the cause of an airplane crash that killed two people.

Authorities say the pilot called air traffic controllers to report engine trouble before a twin-engine Beechcraft airplane slammed into a construction site in Madison about 1:45 p.m. Monday. The exact nature of the problem still isn't known, however.

The aircraft burned after crashing into a subdivision, but it didn't hit any homes and no one on the ground was hurt.

Officials have yet to release the identities of the pilot and a passenger, who were both killed.
