Huntsville, AL – As the week winds down, north Alabama drivers should be careful because a "wintery mix" of weather could cause slippery road conditions.
The National Weather Service office in Huntsville says a mix of rain, snow and "black ice" is likely in places where water stands in low spots on roadways, bridges and overpasses overnight Thursday to Friday.
With a 70 percent chance of rain and lows in the low 30s Thursday evening, light sleet and light freezing rain are possible after midnight.
Temperatures on Friday are likely to be even colder, with a 90 percent chance of rain and freezing rain in the morning. It is expected to be warmer later in the day but then cold again overnight and into Saturday and Sunday.
