Montgomery, AL – Gov. Bob Riley is temporarily suspending some rules so mental health professionals from neighboring states can help meet the need for counseling at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
The governor has suspended requirements for 14 days that licensed psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers be licensed in Alabama in order to work in the state.
Professionals in those areas from neighboring states have offered to assist Alabama professionals.
Students returned to classes at UAH on Monday for the first time since a campus shooting claimed the lives of three professors on Feb 12.
