State Legislature Takes Spring Break

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Legislature is doing like a lot of Alabama's schools and taking off next week for spring break.

The Legislature reached the two-thirds point in its annual session on Thursday. Then lawmakers went home for a break. They will return to the Statehouse on March 23 to begin the final third of their session.

Democratic House Speaker Seth Hammett of Andalusia said the top priority upon their return is writing state budgets for the new fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.
