Montgomery, AL – A candidate seeking Alabama's top job has had a job creation bill passed by the Legislature.
The Senate voted 26-0 Tuesday for final passage of the bill by Republican Rep. Robert Bentley, who's running for governor. The bill passed the House earlier and now goes to the governor.
The bill is called the ``Reemployment Act of 2010.'' It supposed to help lower Alabama's 11.1 percent unemployment - the state's highest unemployment rate in 26 years.
It would allow businesses to take a state income tax deduction of up to 50 percent of the gross wages paid to any person currently drawing unemployment benefits or whose benefits have expired.
