Collinsville, AL – Voters in the DeKalb County town of Collinsville have approved the sale of alcoholic beverages by a vote of 237-95.
The referendum was on the ballot Tuesday in the community, which has more than 600 registered voters.
The Alabama Legislature passed a bill in 2009 that allows towns with a population of at least 1,000 inside an otherwise dry county to vote on the wet-dry issue.
Mayor Johnny Traffenstedt says he does not know how long it will take for the ordinance authorizing the sales to be ready to be voted on by the council.
