Gov. Riley: Prayers Answered With Spill Flow Stopped

Dauphin Island, AL – Alabama Gov. Bob Riley is upbeat over the news that BP has stopped the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

At a news briefing Thursday on Dauphin Island, the governor's face lit up when he heard the news. He said a lot of prayers had been answered.

A 9-year-old girl, Lena Durden, threw up her hands in jubilation when told by her mother that the oil gusher on the seabottom had been capped for now.

Her mother, Yvonne Durden, is a Mobile-area native who now lives in Seattle. She said they were visiting the Gulf coast so Lena could enjoy the water, in case conditions are worse next year.
