Huntsville Gets High Credit Rating From Wall Street

By Associated Press

Huntsville, AL – The city of Huntsville is getting top credit ratings from Wall Street.

Officials say Standard & Poor's this week assigned the city a credit rating of "AAA," and Moody's Investor Service gave it a "Aaa." The mayor's office says both are the highest ratings the city can receive.

The ratings are based on factors including the city's economic profile. Huntsville's economy has remained relatively strong during the recession, and military transfers will help by adding thousands of jobs to the area.

Mayor Tommy Battle says the ratings show the city's financial plan is solid.
