Birmingham, AL – The Alabama Republican Party has chosen Talladega businessman Ray Robbins to replace Republican state Sen. Jim Preuitt of Talladega on the general election ballot Nov. 2.
Preuitt decided last week to end his campaign for a sixth term from District 11. The GOP's candidate committee met Tuesday in Birmingham to pick Robbins as the replacement. Robbins is the president of Talladega Foundry & Machine Co. He will face the Democratic nominee, retired Circuit Judge Jerry Fielding.
Robbins was one of four people who sought to replace Preuitt on the ballot. A party spokesman says the others were Ben Crawford of Talladega, Dell Hill of Alpine and Brian York of Talladega.
