Mobile, AL – A new poll shows Republican Robert Bentley leads Democrat Ron Sparks in the race for Alabama governor, but Bentley's lead has been shrinking.
The survey conducted Oct. 6 through Oct. 21 by the University of South Alabama Polling Group shows Bentley with 48 percent to Sparks' 35 percent, with 17 percent undecided. But Bentley's lead of 13 percentage points dropped from a 20 percentage point margin in the last five days of the survey.
The poll of 777 likely Alabama voters has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
It was commissioned jointly by the Press-Register in Mobile, The Birmingham News and The Huntsville Times.
