Montgomery, AL – The second-place finisher in the Republican runoff, Bradley Byrne, says he has nothing to do with a campaign urging people to write-in his name for governor.
Byrne spoke out Friday after an Internet campaign was launched to write in his name in Tuesday's election. Byrne says will be voting for Republican nominee Robert Bentley, and he's encouraging everyone who supported him in the Republican primary to do the same.
Byrne said the write-in effort appears to be run by operatives for Democratic nominee Ron Sparks. A spokesman for Sparks said the campaign is preparing a response to Byrne's statement.
