Birmingham, AL – A new distribution center will bring hundreds of jobs to Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County Commission and Bessemer City Council voted Tuesday to approve a 10-year tax abatement package and a sales tax exemption for the construction of a Dollar General distribution center.
The $60 million facility is expected to be built by December 2011.
Patrick Murphy of the Birmingham Business Alliance told WBMA-TV that the facility will ultimately employ 650 people.
