Greenetrack Bringing Back Gambling Machines Friday

Eutaw, AL – Greenetrack in Eutaw is planning to open a new type of gambling machine.

Callers to the track were told Thursday that table-top bingo machines would be available at noon Friday.

The state senator for Greene County, Democrat Bobby Singleton, says a track official told him the machines meet the Alabama Supreme Court's standards for bingo. Singleton says he hadn't yet seen the machines.

The track used to operate more than 800 electronic bingo machines, but the governor's gambling task force seized them in July. The task force maintained they violated the Supreme Court's standards and were illegal slot machines.

Since the raid, Greenetrack has operated traditional paper bingo games and simulcast dog and horse races, but they haven't attracted the crowds that gambling machines did.
