Montgomery, AL – An Alabama death row inmate is to be executed by lethal execution at Holman Prison in Atmore and awaits word on his last moment appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court and to Alabama's new governor.
William Glenn Boyd is accused of kidnapping and murdering a couple in Calhoun County 25 years ago. The 45-year-old Boyd is to be executed at 6 p.m. Thursday in the death chamber at Holman Prison in Atmore.
Boyd has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the execution. He says the trial judge violated state and federal rules when he sentenced Boyd to death after the jury had recommended a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Boyd has also filed a clemency petition asking Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley to stop the execution.
