Montgomery, AL – Jefferson County Commission President David Carrington has met with Gov. Robert Bentley to discuss issues involving a possible settlement between the county and Wall Street creditors.
Carrington met with Bentley on Wednesday for about an hour.
Bentley says he's committed to calling a special session of the legislature and working with state lawmakers to find a solution to the county's general fund problems if a settlement is reached over the county's $3.14 billion sewer debt.
Carrington says he wanted to update the governor before traveling next week to New York for negotiations with bondholders. He says he shared some of the concerns that commissioners voiced over the terms and conditions of the creditors' proposal.
Bentley said in a statement that the meeting was productive.
