Montgomery, AL – Alabama's unemployment rate has dropped one-half percentage point to 9.3 percent.
The October rate announced Friday is down from 9.8 percent in September. It marks the fourth consecutive month that the state's unemployment rate has gone down.
Gov. Robert Bentley says there is still a long way to go before reaching full employment, but Alabama's economy is showing positive momentum.
Alabama's decline mirrored a drop in the national rate, which went from 9.1 percent in September to 9.0 percent in October.
Every Alabama county reported a decline in unemployment. Counties with the lowest rates were Shelby at 6.1 percent, Coffee at 6.8 percent, and Lee at 7.1 percent. Counties with the highest rates were Wilcox at 19.0 percent and Dallas and Bullock at 16.6 percent.
