Montgomery, AL – Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange says there are a number of talks under way between various parties involved in the upcoming trial concerning the 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and that it's possible a settlement could be reached before the start of the Feb. 27 trial in New Orleans.
Strange has been appointed by U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier to be coordinating counsel for Gulf Coast states that claim to have lost millions as a result of the massive oil spill.
Strange said at a briefing for reporters in his office Tuesday that it's possible that the talks could lead to a settlement. But he said he is preparing to give Alabama's opening statements at the trial, which he said could last for months.
