Montgomery, AL – A delegation of civil rights and labor representatives has taken their protest of Alabama's toughest-in-the-nation immigration law international, visiting the shareholder meeting of Hyundai Motors Co. in South Korea on Friday.
Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights president Wade Henderson says he made a presentation before Hyundai's shareholders, asking them and top management to pressure the state of Alabama to cease enforcement of and repeal the immigration law.
Henderson says over coming months representatives will attend the shareholder meetings of Honda and Daimler AG.
Republican leaders in the Alabama Legislature say they plan on tweaking the law, but have no intentions of repealing it.
In an email, Hyundai spokesman Chris Hosford says Hyundai is puzzled as to why it is being ``unfairly singled out'' among Alabama employers.
