Students in the University of Alabama system will be wearing face masks indoors at least through the end of October. UA says the face covering policy will continue to be required inside all non-residential campus buildings, including all classrooms and academic buildings, and on campus transportation through that date. The policy applies even to people who are vaccinated. There are some exceptions to the rule. Masks are not required in residence hall rooms or in residential common areas when social distance is practiced. Masks are also not required during football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium except for fans in enclosed areas such as elevators or club seating.
Alabama schools used a carrot rather than stick approach to encpurage students to get vaccinated for COVID-19. The University of Montevallo said last month that students who reported their vaccination on the University’s website are eligible for perks like a two hundred dollar book scholarship. The University of Alabama offered forty dollars in Bama cash for its students in Tuscaloosa who get their shots.
