U.S. Civil Rights leaders remember Nelson Mandela

ATLANTA (AP) - Several religious, civil rights and political leaders from Georgia say the death of former South African President and anti-apartheid activist, Nelson Mandela, marks the end of an era in the realm of social justice. Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church - where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once preached - called Mandela "one of the towering transformational figures of the modern era." Atlanta Mayor, Kasim Reed, says Mandela was in a class of his own as a leader who changed a nation and the world. He recalled meeting Mandela at Howard University in 1994, and says a photo from that day still hangs in his office in City Hall. Democratic Rep. John Lewis says Mandela "taught us how to live, not to become bitter or hostile."
