Kid Chefs Best on the Bay
Kid Chefs Best on the Bay
We are boiling over with excitement about our first of its kind, Kid Chefs Best on the Bay. Our foodie and family friendly event will be a “mystery basket” style cooking challenge highlighting local celebrity, guest chefs working alongside some of our most talented kid chefs. It’s set for January 8th at The Exploreum. The chefs in the lineup supporting our cause are a big “DILL”. Local chefs’ generous participation includes: Executive Chef, Arwen Rice (Famous for her wood fired pizzas and featured in Mobile Bay Magazine) Red or White Executive Chef & Owner, Chris Rainosek (Farm to table hero featured in The Scout Guide and Mobile Bay Magazine) The Noble South and The Wash House Executive Chef & Owner, Jim Smith (Contestant on Bravo TV’s Top Chef Season 14, Executive Chef of the State of Alabama, and Chairman of the Alabama Seafood Marketing Commission) Hummingbird Way Chef & Owner, Jonavin Murray (Insanely talented chef and artisan widely known for being private chef to many high profile clients) Thrive by Chef Jonavin Murray Executive Chef & Owner, Panini Pete (Multiple appearances on the Food Network, cofounder of the PR Foundation, proud Messlords member) Panini Pete’s, Sunset Point, Squid Ink, and Ed’s Shed The funds we raise support the efforts of The Cookery Project dedicated to instilling healthy eating habits through hands on cooking classes, dietary education, food literacy, and life skill training to economically disadvantaged youth and adolescents in South Alabama in an effort to bridge the health equity gap in our community. Concepts such as how to prepare a meal, budgeting, and time management are usually seen as skills learned as children grow up. However, with the evolving nature of family structures, and the growing number of households in poverty, the time to focus on systematic change is pressing.
