Join the Afro American Gospel Choir, as they celebrate the 55th anniversary of their choir through music, dance, and ministry!Despite trials and tribulations, the Afro American Gospel Choir is celebrating 55 years of being a beacon of light and hope on the University of Alabama campus! Established in 1971, we are the second oldest black organization on campus and we are so blessed to be celebrating such a huge milestone. The concert will consist of performances from the current choir, performances from alumni, performances from His Instruments of Praise Dance Ministry, and a special performance from the original 12 members of the choir from 1971! It will truly be a night of fellowship, music, and celebration—-a night you DONT want to miss!

For 53 years, the annual Arley Day Festival Parade and Car Show has been held in Arley, Alabama. The festival is hosted by the Arley Women’s Club (AWC) as a celebration of the town of Arley, the heart of beautiful Smith Lake, and its residents. This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 8 am until 2 pm at beautiful Hamner Park. It is free for all attendees. The festival begins with a parade through town and a pancake breakfast at the Arley Fire Station. Other activities will include a car show (with prizes!), arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, bake sale, children’s games, water slides (Parents, be sure to bring a towel), horseback rides, free hotdogs for kids and more.
