Lights Bama Action

The podcast, called “Lights, Bama, Action!” is a roundtable discussion about movies set in Alabama, including favorites such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Forrest Gump, and Sweet Home Alabama.

The panel is made up of three Birmingham residents and writers, Carla Jean Whitley (@inkedstainedlife), John Archibald (@JohnArchibald), and Edward Bowser (@etbowser). 

Carla Jean Whitley is the author of Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, Balancing Act: Yoga Essays, and Birmingham Beer. She spent many years as the managing editor for Birmingham magazine and as a writer and editor for other Alabama media outlets, including AL.com and The Birmingham News.

John Archibald is a Pulitzer-Prize winning columnist for the Alabama Media Group. His book, Shaking the Gates of Hell, comes out next March. He is currently on the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University.

Edward Bowser spent eight years as a journalist in Kentucky before moving to Birmingham, where he now works for Mayor Randall Woodfin’s office as the Senior Storyteller for the city. He is also the founder and editor of the music blog Soul In Stereo.
