Mobile Bay
npr.org

Public access to Mobile's waterfront is now possible thanks to a deal between the city and state of Alabama.

Gov. Kay Ivey partnered with local officials to buy bayfront poperty near downtown that is owned by the University of South Alabama Foundation to allow for visitors and tourists. It will be managed by the city's parks and recreation department.

Much of the waterfront access of the Mobile Bay and Mobile River is occupied by shipping industry ports.
