UAB Health mandates shots as events canceled, masks ordered

UAB Hospital

One of Alabama’s largest employers is requiring its workers to be fully vaccinated by November.

The UAB Health System says all 16,000 employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Nov. 12.

Alabama is once again seeing case numbers soar thanks to the delta variant and the state’s low vaccination rate. Communities are canceling events and more school systems are requiring students to wear masks.

About 11,800 Alabamians have died from the virus, ranking the state’s death rate as 16th worst in the nation.
