The former dean of the engineering school at the University of Alabama will step in as the interim president of the University of Alabama in Huntsville in December.
Chuck Karr, who served as the Dean of UA’s College of Engineering for 16 years, will hold the interim position for 18 months. Karr will replace Darren Dawson, who announced that he was retiring at the end of the year due to “private family matters.”
Karr will begin his appointment on Dec. 1, with Dawson remaining employed with the university until Dec. 31 to “ensure a seamless transition."
