MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A former Alabama judge who had a relationship with a female attorney has been found guilty of two ethics violations.

News outlets report a settlement between Chris Kaminski and the Judicial Inquiry Commission was formalized Tuesday in Montgomery. Kaminski resigned as Coffee County district judge July 16.

The commission says Kaminski improperly presided in cases involving the lawyer. It also says he improperly obtained courthouse surveillance video for personal purposes.

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama judge has resigned amid judicial ethics charges that accuse him of having an affair with an attorney who was handling cases in his court.

WDHN-TV reports that Coffee County District Judge Chris Kaminski says he is quitting because it isn't "financially feasible" to fight charges filed with the Alabama Court of the Judiciary on Tuesday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for a location in southeast Alabama to build the state's fifth veterans home.

Al.com says the department sent out requests for site selection proposals Monday. The plan is to build a 182,000-square-foot (16,900-square-meter) home to provide skilled nursing care for 150 to 175 veterans. The minimum site requirement is 27 acres (11 hectares).

NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (AP) — A food and distribution firm plans to build a $100 million distribution center in southeast Alabama.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday announced the Coffee County facility being built by Texas-based Ben E. Keith Co.

Al.com reports that the project is expected to create 80 direct jobs during the next five years.

Elba Weighing FEMA Flood Assistance Options

The city of Elba is getting ready for a town hall meeting to decide how to distribute $2 million of FEMA flood mitigation funds.

The city is using the money to buy and tear down houses damaged during the 2015 Christmas flood. Coffee County Emergency Management Director Larry Walker says there isn't enough funding for everyone who's applied for the buyout, but he says homeowners with major damage will be guaranteed assistance.

Four Killed in Medical Helicopter Crash

Four people were killed in a helicopter crash early this morning in southeast Alabama.

Alabama Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Robinson says a Haynes Life Flight ambulance helicopter crashed in Coffee County at approximately 12:17 a.m. this morning. Three crew members and a patient were aboard. Robinson says the downed helicopter was found after 7 a.m.
