Gulf Shores, AL – It's an unusual occurrence, but an alligator attacked a Baldwin County resident Wednesday night. Kevin McLain says he was in a public swimming area in Lake Shelby at Gulf State Park. He says the alligator grabbed his leg and then rolled. He says it also tried to drag him under water. McLain says was able to free his leg and get to shore. He was taken to a hospital in Foley where he received 20 stitches. McLain says the gator was about five-to-six feet long, and he says he's glad the alligator grabbed him instead of one of the children swimming nearby. A local park worker says a team will try to capture the animal.
