Hyde Sentenced to Death for Three Murders

By Alabama Public Radio

Sumiton, AL – A judge has sentenced Christopher Shane Hyde to death for the 2003 murders of three people at a Sumiton funeral home. The case will be automatically appealed under state law. Hyde was found guilty of capital murder in the deaths of Randle Lane, Rick Peterson and June Williams. The jury had recommended the death sentence for the 32-year-old. The victims were found shot to death in the embalming room at Bell's Funeral Chapel. Peterson's truck and the two men's wallets were stolen. Hyde told the judge that he didn't have anything to say before the sentencing.
