Montgomery – Alabama Governor Bob Riley wants tourists to consider a vacation in Alabama's economically depressed Black Belt region.
Riley unveiled Wednesday a slick 40-page booklet that highlights 55 destinations along what is called the "Alabama Black Belt Nature and Heritage Trail."
The booklet is designed like a travel guide and includes maps and plenty of pictures of each attraction. The attractions stretch across 13 counties from the Mississippi line to Macon and Bullock counties east of Montgomery.
The booklet also includes a list of 13 Bed and Breakfast facilities in the Black Belt counties and several restaurant suggestions.
