National Weather Service Says Ida Dumped Nearly 10 Inches Of Rain On East Ala.

Opelika, AL – The weather service is reporting some impressive rainfall totals from tropical storm Ida in Alabama.

Forecasters said the storm dumped 9.8 inches of rain on Opelika for the period ending 7 a.m. Wednesday. That's the greatest rainfall amount reported so far in Alabama and seven other states from the storm.

Foley received 6.6 inches of rain near the coast in Baldwin County, and Clanton received 6.3 inches in central Alabama.

By contrast, the weather service says Mobile received 3.6 inches of rain from Ida, which came ashore at Dauphin Island early Tuesday.
