All camps are taught by practicing artists in Space One Eleven’s professional art studios.

“We believe that love is the foundation of reconciliation,” said Amy Davis, Vice President/President Elect of Building Bridges Institute for Racial Reconciliation. “The Lace Up For Love Sneaker Ball is a celebration of that belief, bringing people together across backgrounds and cultures to take meaningful steps toward understanding.” Proceeds from the event will directly support community seminars, symposiums, conversation circles, and action teams to improve the lives of Tuscaloosa’s citizens.
The Sneaker Ball is a fresh and exciting take on the traditional gala. It’s a formal evening where guests dress up in their best attire—but instead of heels or dress shoes, they wear sneakers. The idea behind it is to create an atmosphere that’s both classy and comfortable, allowing people to have fun while supporting a meaningful cause. The event was created as a way to bring the community together and raise awareness and funds for Building Bridges. We wanted something fresh, inclusive, and approachable—an event that reflects both celebration and purpose.
It’s time to rock the stage! Sign up with your friends to form a band, or register to be placed with other musicians like you (similar age and skill level), then get ready to learn the songs you’ve always wanted to play and perform them live for family and friends on the last day of camp. Bands are typically composed of vocalists, drummers, guitarists, bassists, and pianists, but other instruments may also be considered. This camp is open to students aged 10-18 who already have a grasp of their instrument and are ready to show off their skills while they grow their confidence!
