Alabama hospital begins $61M expansion, including new beds
The $61 million renovation to the Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz is underway.
The main entrance to the hospital is being moved to the north end of the hospital, which will add 125 parking spaces. When completed, the ground floor will house a cafeteria, coffee shop, conference room and gift shop. There will be a check-in and consultation room for outpatient surgeries on the second floor, and the third floor will include an 18-bed intensive care unit and 32-bed inpatient section.
Some parts of the expansion are still waiting for state approval, but work is expected to be done in about three years.
