Birmingham is no longer requiring face masks after the latest extension expired.
Fewer patients throughout the state have been hospitalized with COVID-19 since the first wave of outbreaks in April 2020.
Mayor Randall Woodfin said the end of the requirement is a sign that more people are getting vaccinated and things are on their way to returning to normal.
