Federal court challenge looms over Alabama solar panel fees

The fight over utility fees on home solar panels is ongoing in Alabama.

Environmental groups requested that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission take action against Alabama regulators that approved Alabama Power's fees on home solar panels and other home power generation, but the organization rejected it.

The Southern Environmental Law Center said it will now take the argument to federal court.

Two members from the commission are concerned that regulators could be violating federal law designed to encourage alternative energy sources.
