Lynching memorial organizers plan slavery museum expansion

Equal Justice Initiative

The Equal Justice Initiative is moving and expanding its memorial dedicated to U.S. lynching victims.

The Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration explores the consequences of enslavement, mob violence and Jim Crow laws. The new location will be larger and have several new exhibits.

Director Bryan Stevenson said in order to evaluate contemporary issues thoughtfully it is necessary to understand and appreciate the history told in the exhibit.
