The Alabama District Attorneys Association just elected its first Black president.

Veteran prosecutor Michael Jackson will serve a one-year term after being sworn in on Monday.

He has worked several high-profile cases including the prosecution of the ex-state trooper who shot and killed Jimmie Lee Jackson in 1965.  The murder led to the historic civil rights marches from Selma to Montgomery.
