Lynching marker to expose Alabama county's racial violence

Lee County Remembrance Project
Facebook

The Lee County Remembrance Project plans to honor four Black men who were killed by white mobs over a century ago.

Co-founder Ashley Brown said the group hopes to erect a historic marker that tells the victims' stories outside the county courthouse. She said they also want to establish an official day of remembrance for the victims.

The other co-founder Olivia Nichols said the community has been shaped by the generational trauma from these murders.
