Madison Co. GOP Won't Try To Block Griffith's Party Switch

Huntsville, AL – Madison County's Republican leaders have decided not to attempt to reject the party switching of U.S. Rep. Parker Griffith of Huntsville.

The Madison County Republican Executive Committee voted 41-9 Monday night against a resolution that would have asked the state Republican Party to bar Griffith from the GOP primary ballot in June.

Griffith switched parties in December. He did not attend the Monday night meeting.

Committee member Hugh McInnish said it was impossible to believe Griffith had shed his Democratic skin. Committee member Tom Young said the decision about Griffith's future should be left to the voters in the Republican primary, where Griffith faces two opponents.
