Study Finds Alabama Eating Habits Unhealthy

Florence, AL – A study called ``10 States with the Deadliest Eating Habits'' shows Alabama ranks just behind Mississippi as the state with the worst eating habits.

The authors gathered federal data for the report, including income, access to healthy food sources, the ability to pay for healthy food, the concentration of fast food outlets and the consumption of fruits, vegetables, sugar, fat and soft drinks.

Alabama residents consume 77 gallons of soft drinks per capita per year, the fourth-highest amount in the country. Residents also consume $649 per person per year in fast food.

Alabama has been ranked among the top five states in the nation for rates of obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
