Budget Deal Faces Key Vote In Senate
A modest but potentially tone-changing budget deal now faces a key test in the Senate. It was approved by the House last week, with the support of a majority of House Republicans. Now at least five Senate Republicans will have to support the plan for it to reach the critical, 60-vote threshold needed for passage.

The last five years have seen the one of the most tumultuous periods for any industrial segment — bankruptcy, public relations disaster after public relations disaster, government takeovers, and recalls are just some of the issues the industry faced. But today, from Wolfsburg, Germany to Detroit to Shanghai, the auto industry has settled into a rhythm that could last for another generation.

Country Music Legend Ray Price Dies At 87
Country music singer and songwriter Ray Price died Monday at the age of 87 at his ranch in Texas. Price was a Grammy Award Winner and who had more than 100 country hits in his decades-long career. A 1996 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, he was credited with pioneering a shuffle beat and walking bass line that became standard in Texas dance halls.

Environmentalists Split Over Need For Nuclear Power
One former anti-nuke activist says the world can't afford to dismiss nuclear power, if we're to rein in global warming. Nuclear plants provide a more reliable energy supply than wind or solar, he says, and without the high carbon emissions that fossil fuels produce.

The Texas capital is growing rapidly, and its roads and freeways are packed. A toll road was built east of the city to help alleviate the problem, but few drivers use it.
