Clara Ester, an activist who as a 20-year-old college student rushed to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s side when he was shot, has died. She later moved to Mobile, Alabama where she worked Ester moved to Mobile, Alabama, where she found work as a neighborhood organizer at the Dumas Wesley Community Center.

Memphis has hired former Alabama associate head coach Charles Huff as football coach after his one season at Southern Miss. Athletic director Ed Scott announced the hiring with Huff replacing Ryan Silverfield, who left for Arkansas at the end of November.
